About STAR 2006
STAR Reports
No individual student scores are reported on the Internet. The test
results for individual students are available only from the school or district
where the student was tested. Individual
student scores are confidential and may be reviewed only by students' teachers
and parents/guardians. The California Standards Tests (CSTs) and California
Achievement Tests, Sixth Edition Survey (CAT/6 Survey) scores are printed on
STAR Student Reports that school districts must forward to parents/guardians
within 20 working days from when they are received in each district. Most
parents/guardians should receive their children's test results no later than
the middle of September. Results for students assessed with the California
Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA) are on separate reports.
Teachers receive copies of the STAR Student Reports for the students in their
current classes. Teachers can use these reports to conference with the students
and/or their parents/guardians about how well the students performed on the
tests. Teachers should use the reports in conjunction with other information
about the students’ academic achievement to identify individual student's
strengths and weaknesses on the California content standards and to plan
appropriate enrichment or remedial instruction for the student.
In addition to the Internet reports, schools and districts receive reports that
summarize the results by grade level and subject area, as well as adhesive
labels to insert into students' permanent records. The STAR student, school,
district, and county reports include more detailed information for the CSTs
than is reported on the Internet. In addition to the scale scores and
performance levels by subject area, parents/guardians, teachers, and
administrators receive information about student performance on clusters of
content standards. These clusters are identified in the blueprints for the CSTs
as strands or standard sets. The blueprints can be accessed at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/resources.asp
on the Internet. Teachers and administrators can use the more detailed
information to evaluate the effectiveness of various aspects of school and
district instructional programs.
To protect student privacy, asterisks appear on the Internet reports when 10
or fewer students had valid test scores.
NOTE: Information about the STAR 2006 Reports is specifically related to the
STAR 2006 results. For information about previous years' STAR results, see
http://star.cde.ca.gov.
