Grades and Subjects Reported
Students take the tests used in the STAR Program based on the grades in
which they are enrolled. The exceptions are the California Mathematics Standards Tests for
grades eight through eleven and the California Science Standards Tests for
grades nine through eleven that are tied to specific courses students are
completing or have completed. Students with
disabilities taking the CSTs in 2006 were not allowed to take the tests below
the grade level in which they were enrolled.
The following tables show the subject areas that are tested at each grade level.
Test results are available for all grades and subjects for schools, districts,
counties, and the state. Unless a school did not administer one or more of the
required tests, viewers should expect to see results for all of the required
CSTs and CAT/6 Survey for every grade served within a school or district. CAPA
and Aprenda 3 results should be available for all districts but may not be
available for all schools based on student populations.

higher math course.
** End-of-course science tests for grades nine through eleven include Earth Science,
Biology/Life Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Integrated/Coordinated Science 1,
2, 3, and 4, each of which includes questions related to all four science
disciplines.
*** All grade 10 students took the Life Science CST. In addition to this, most grade ten
students took an end-of-course science test.

the small number of students assessed with the CAPA, county, district, and
school results are reported by the CAPA level with each level encompassing two
or more grade levels.
