1999 STAR Program Results
There are three components to the STAR program in 1999: 1) the Stanford
Achievement Test, Ninth Edition, Form T (Stanford 9), administered to all
students in grades 2 through 11; 2) the STAR augmentation in language arts
and mathematics, administered to all students in grades 2 through 11, except
for mathematics in grades 8, 9, and 10 where only students enrolled in
certain mathematics classes were tested; and the Spanish Assessment of
Basic Education, Second Edition (SABE/2), administered to Spanish speaking
limited English proficient students. Scores are reported by grade
level and content area for each school, district, county, and for the state
for all three program components. Scores for the Stanford 9 and the
STAR augmentation are reported on the same "pages;" SABE/2 scores are reported
on a separate set of pages.
1999 Stanford 9 and STAR Augmentation (California Content Standards)
Results - revision posted September 30, 1999.
At all levels--school, district, county, and state--results for the
1999 administration of the Stanford 9 and for the STAR augmentation (California
Content Standards) are displayed together. Reports are available
for "all students" and for six subgroups: limited English proficient (LEP)
students; students who are not limited English proficient; males; females;
economically disadvantaged students; and students who are not economically
disadvantaged. For each level of report--for example, for each school--there
are four sets of results, one set each page for "all students," males/females;
economically disadvantaged/not economically disadvantaged; and (LEP)/not
(LEP).

1999 SABE/2 Results - revision posted September 15, 1999.
SABE/2 results are reported at the same levels as the other STAR tests--school,
district, county, and state. Results are reported by grade level and subject
for all students who took the test, and for only those students who at
the time of testing had been enrolled in a California public school for
fewer than 12 months. Not all districts and not all schools within districts
administered the SABE/2 as there are districts and schools that did not
have any students for whom SABE/2 testing was required. Districts were
required to test Spanish speaking limited English proficient students who
were first enrolled in a California public school fewer than 12 months
prior to testing. Districts had the option to test Spanish speaking limited
English proficient students who were enrolled more than 12 months prior
to testing. Because far fewer students took the SABE/2 than the Stanford
9, entire reports--for districts or schools--will not appear at all. Many
of reports that do appear will have asterisks in the place of scores where
fewer than ten students were in the group (grade/subject).
