STAR Reporting Subgroups

Subgroup results are available for the following tests:

  • California Standards Tests (CSTs)
  • California Modified Assessment (CMA)—Grades three through five
  • California Achievement Tests, Sixth Edition Survey (CAT/6 Survey)—Grades three and seven only
  • California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA)—Because of the small number of students assessed with the CAPA, data will be unavailable for some subgroups.
  • Standards-based Tests in Spanish (STS)—Grades two through seven

Reports are available at the state, county, school district, and school levels for “All Students” and disaggregated for subgroups of students on the basis of the following criteria:

  • All Students
  • Disability Status
    • Students with No Reported Disability (CST, CMA, CAT/6 Survey, and STS only)
    • Students with Disability (CST, CMA, CAT/6 Survey, and STS only)
  • Economic Status
    • Economically Disadvantaged
    • Not Economically Disadvantaged
  • English-Language Fluency
    • Fluent-English Proficient and English Only
    • Initially Fluent English Proficient (I-FEP)
    • Reclassified-Fluent English Proficient (R-FEP)
    • English Learners Enrolled in School in the United States less than 12 months (CST, CMA, CAT/6 Survey, and STS only)
    • English Learners Enrolled in School in the United States 12 months or more (CST, CMA, CAT/6 Survey, and STS only)

Beginning in 2008, the reports by Economic Status and Ethnicity have been added for the CST and CAPA summary reports as shown below. These reports provide information on the students who scored at proficient and advanced in all grades by economic status and ethnicity. The performance data are based on STAR test results for CST and CAPA. Summary reports for the CMA will be added in 2009 when performance levels are reported.
