Research Files
These research files contain results from California's Standardized
Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program. Each file contains the same
information presented in the Reports section of this site and is
provided to allow for more complex analyses and customized reporting
of the data.
Use of these research files requires some expertise in data handling.
Descriptions of the file formats and instructions on how to access
the data are contained in a file you can access by clicking on the
appropriate Folder icon on the left for help.
For PC users, each of the three file formats (Fixed-Length ASCII,
Comma-Delimited and Access 2000 .mdb) are available in self-extracting
archive formats.
For Mac users, zip files are available for the Fixed-Length ASCII
and the Comma-Delimited formats. An Access 2000 .mdb file is not
available for Mac users. Mac users wishing to use these files will
need decompression software such as Stuffit Expander 7.5. (Stuffit
Expander 7.5 is available at no cost from Aladdin Systems at www.aladdinsys.com/expander/)
To learn more about the file formats and to download one of these
research files click on the appropriate Folder
icon at the left.
In order to protect student confidentiality, no scores are reported for any group of 10 or fewer students.
The 2002 results posted on this web site are final.
