Reported STAR 2000 Testing Irregularities

A number of districts reported STAR testing irregularities during spring 2000. These irregularities involved either inappropriate test preparation such as teachers using copies of STAR 1999 tests to prepare students for the 2000 administration or inappropriate test administration such as teachers providing additional time to complete the test or coaching students during the test administration. District coordinators were given directions for coding the test answer documents for students affected by these irregularities. The procedures used provided individual student results to parent/guardians and teachers but excluded the students' scores from school, district, county and state reports.

The STAR 2000 results for the following schools, grades, and content areas should be interpreted cautiously. Since the scores for students for whom testing irregularities were reported are not included in the school results, the school scores may not accurately reflect the student achievement at these schools.
